With a low population, scenic views, and ease of access to Central Colorado, Woodland Park is the ideal destination spot. Everyday life feels like a vacation with quiet mornings and fun-filled days packed with outdoor activities, events, and outings.

While Woodland Park has no shortage of restaurants, outdoor activities, and shopping opportunities, it is also located 20-25 minutes away from Colorado Springs, so residents don’t feel like they’re missing out on amenities amidst their vacation vibes!

The Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Research Center Woodland Park, Colorado

The 200,000 square foot research center or museum can be found on Fairview street and has some of the best fossils dating back to North America’s Cretaceous Period. The fossils include dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and marine reptiles, including a massive T-rex, along with other large predators. There’s a lot to see, do, and learn because visitors can even check out the fossil lab to examine contemporary pieces that are being worked on by paleontologists. Apart from offering tours of the museum, there is a children’s play area where they can learn and interact with exhibits and get creative with hands-on activities!

Red Rocks Campground Woodland Park, Colorado

Offering unique rock formations and various things to do, Red Rocks Campground features awe-inspiring views. You can also find many trails around for hiking, walking, or riding your horses as the sun sets over the mountain peaks. Spend the day picnicking or camping at the group campground and get the chance to experience a variety of wildlife, such as squirrels, deer, bears, and elk. There’s something for everyone, and the spot is perfect for family reunions and camping under the stars!

Travel past the many schools and take a turn off Highway 24 to experience this beautiful reservoir nestled on Rampage Range only 4.2 miles east from Woodland Park. As one of the most popular outdoor recreation spots in Colorado, Rampart Reservoir has a 13-mile loop trail where you can go hiking or spend the day near the lake encompassed by scenic vistas.

If you’re into fishing, this is the ideal spot for you since you can find plenty of fish stocked by the Colorado Parks. Open season in the reservoir occurs from mid-May to mid-October and you can also go boating or kayaking on the lake!

If you’re an animal lover and looking to experience the wildlife in the town, take a tour with the Colorado Wolf Adventures! There are multiple trails along this area with breath-taking views of Pike Peaks and the Red Rocks.

Shining Mountain Golf Club Woodland Park, Colorado

With the scenic town and mountain range in the backdrop, the Shining Mountain Golf Club is the only public one available in the mountains.

You can partake in the permanent disc golf courses, one of Colorado’s only available golf courses, offering such an approach. After a tiring day of golfing, head to the Shining Mountain Bar and Grill, which has a 1,400 square deck where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks, overlooking meadows where deer and elk come to play.

The spot is also ideal for a wedding since it encompasses several acres of natural beauty right off Highway 67.

BierWerks Brewery has a charming ambiance set amidst the nearby shops and the beautiful scenery with classic stone and a wooden exterior.

Aesthetic decorations and traditional furniture fill the interior with a small kitchen that serves up delicious food with a smile. If you want to drop by with your dog, this brewery has a dog-friendly environment.

BierWerks Brewery Woodland Park, Colorado

Serving a plethora of German-style lagers and ales along with a few hoppy brews, BierWerks also serves Colorado-made sausage, Wisconsin cheese, warm pretzels, and salami and cheese platters year-round.

Woodland Park Farmers Market

Established in 1990, this market was organized by the Teller County Farmers Market Association, which sells fresh local and regionally grown fruits and vegetables and raised meats, farm-fresh eggs & dairy products, fresh-baked breads, coffee, honey, plants, flowers & herbs, baked goods, spices, food items, snacks and gardening products. The Summer Market is in Memorial Park and on Henrietta Avenue and Center Street. Summer 2023 season starts, Friday, June 2nd and goes through September 29th. Fridays, 8am – 1pm. Apart from selling fresh vegetables, fruits, and bread, food trucks and other vendors also visit the market and sell their wares.

Joanie’s Deli & Bakery Woodland Park, Colorado

North Pole Santa’s Workshop Cascade Chipita Park, Colorado

An amusement park just down the road from Woodland Park about 15 minutes, themed for Christmas!

Welcome to The North Pole-Santa’s Workshop, an enchanting vintage amusement park nestled at the foot of Pikes Peak. Home to Santa’s Village and the jolly man himself – the spirit of Christmas lives on all year long at The North Pole.

It’s a true mountain village for Santa’s Workshop. Over 2 dozen unique rides at The North Pole, so its chock full of fun for everyone in your group! The vintage rides have been restored to their full glory and are maintained yearly for good old fashioned, safe merriment.

Visit with Santa, try the Sky Ride, take in a show, ride the train, watch the glass blower create beautiful ornaments, ride the carousel, eat sweet treats and enjoy all the magic to be had! Check out their website as Summer and Holiday dates and hours differ.
